Getting good sleep has always been a struggle for me. Since having children (10 + years ago) my issues with getting good sleep have gotten words. True confession: despite my desire and daily effort to be healthy, I took over the counter sleep medication for way longer than I care to admit. (I know, terrible and shame on me.) It wasn’t that long ago that I kicked the over the counter medication to the curb and gave sleep on my own a go again. I had success on and off. Probably more off than on. The bottom line is that if I don’t sleep, I’m a complete mess. When I’m tired I’m grouchy, lethargic, and can’t think straight. Not a good combination for this busy mom.
Not too long ago I stumbled upon an article and recipe for banana tea. The claim was that bananas contain high amounts of magnesium. Low levels of magnesium are often the cause of sleep disturbances. Truth be told, the thought of drinking water flavored with banana was not all that appealing at first. Desperate people do desperate things, so I gave it a try.
I was shocked at the results. For the first time in years I slept through the night! I couldn’t believe it. No chemicals, no supplements, no nothing except banana and water. Just to make sure it wasn’t a fluke I continued to drink this banana tea before going to sleep for a week. Sure enough, the concoction continued to work. To ensure I’m getting a decent night sleep, my new routine includes this banana tea. If you try it I think you’ll be just as shocked as I was at how much better you sleep!
